Annual Water Quality Reports
Annual WQ Report to LA (detailed)
|
Introduction
Meeting our water quality obligations is our number one priority. Water quality is the key to protecting our customers’ health and wellbeing and we take our responsibilities very seriously.
The standards to which we work are laid down in legislation in The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000 which convert standards derived from World Health Organisation (WHO) and EC Directives into UK law. Compliance with the standards and the way in which we sample, treat and monitor water supplies are monitored by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI). The DWI is a government based regulator who carry out very detailed audits of our work and report on their findings.
We
supply water to around 90,000 people in the Borough of Hartlepool and
check the water supplies for a range of chemical and microbiological
parameters as it travels from the borehole sources, through treatment
and storage to customer taps. Sampling takes place throughout the year
to ensure that we deliver safe and acceptable water supplies and results
of our testing are published on our Register of Water Quality. The
Register is available for viewing at our Lancaster Road offices during
opening hours Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm excluding Bank Holidays. In
addition, we publish an annual report of our water quality performance
each year before the end of June for the prior calendar year.
The links to our recent reports are listed alongside. In addition, a link to the DWI website is provided so that you can read the reports that the DWI compile about our performance on water quality.
