Who We Are

Glasses of Water

The Hartlepool Gas and Water Company, as we were formerly named, was established in 1846. Our first customers were supplied with water from a source situated directly behind the company’s existing offices which could provide up to 40,000 litres an hour. Today we supply 75 times that volume of drinking water to a population of approximately 92,000 people. The water originates from a number of underground sources and is distributed via an infrastructure that includes treatment works, 6 reservoirs and approximately 700km of mains pipe.

In 1997 Hartlepool Water became a member the Anglian Water Group of Companies and as such we have access to vast technical resources, engineering services and NAMAS accredited laboratories.

The complementary abilities of Hartlepool Water and the Anglian Water Group enable us to meet our customer’s needs by providing a totally flexible approach to water and wastewater services.

The professional management of Health & Safety, environmental risks, changing legislation and new technologies has been key to our success as has been the high level of service, for which we are widely recognised.

Hartlepool Water provides a breakdown response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our crews and approved contractors are only a phone call away. In addition, sites can be connected to our Group telemetry network, one of the largest in Europe, to provide round the clock remote monitoring of key items of plant.

Taking the lead within the water industry to offer an alternative in water supply and wastewater treatment we at Hartlepool Water believe that our unique advantage is our ability to offer unparalleled customer care – small company style, backed by the technical capability and financial muscle of a large multinational parent.
